Up Close with R&B; Producer Big Veezy: Butterscotch is on the Way to the Top of the Charts
R&B; Music Producer's introduction to the world debuts at #1 with "Butterscotch" on Keith Sweat's album "Just Me"
When I asked him to describe himself he shied away from answering the question. With coaxing he finally said, "I'm humble and I'm humbled by the attention that the music business generates. I like the ability that music has to change things; change a mood, change an attitude, change a heart. I am thankful to have the gift of being able to play music and have the ability to contribute to ... change. If the Creator had not blessed my work, you would have never heard of me."
What influenced you to go into the business of music...
He received his first guitar at the age of 13. His grandmother thought someone in the family would be a gifted musician. He didn't think it would be him. He didn't pick up the guitar immediately. He waited awhile before really taking it seriously, but when he did he combined his natural ability with long hours of practicing diligently.
Why music? Why the guitar??
His grandmother had a piano. His father owned a night club. Ray Charles played at his father's club. He attended his first concert at the age of 5. From then on everything revolved around music. His father tried to discourage him and wanted him to be a doctor.
The guitar was the first instrument he owned. He went on to teach himself how to play the bass, piano, and drums. He sings really well too.
How did you get into music?
It started with a guitar... Then came an opportunity to play live with a local group. Next was a world-wide tour with a zydeco band that afforded him the opportunity to interact with superstars such as Eric Clapton, ....
With money he made from this tour he invested in music recording equipment.
Personal Information???
He was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. He enjoys looking at the night sky and would love to study astronomy. He likes vanilla ice cream and is left handed.
What next?
The universe is next. With his talent and natural ability there is no genre of music that is out of range for him. He has the potential to produce number one hits on all genres of music. His future in the music business is as bright as the stars and it is within reach for him to have multiple hits at the same time.
