The next time you judge a celebrity think about the last time you went grocery shopping in sweats.
No offense, Folgers.
People who aren't addicted to coffee don't seem to understand how vital it is to our well being (and yours, for that matter). I'm fortunate enough to be only a few steps away from my kitchen after stumbling out of bed; in fact my first home will definitely be one-floor. If you're a smoker but not a coffee drinker, think about waking up first thing in the morning. What do you want most? A cigarette, right? Well that's how I feel about coffee.
In my quest for caffeine I look like a truck ran me over, and for all I know perhaps one did. The state of mind I'm in doesn't allow time for thinking about what occurred last night, for I am on a mission to feed my addiction. I care not what others think of me, even as a friendly employee hands me an extra large coffee with a shot of Turbo and extra cream. As a receipt is handed back I know he sees the mascara smudge under my eyes, the stains on my sweats and perhaps gets a whiff of Listerine as I mutter 'thank you.'
I may not look my best that early, but I am hygienic.
With all of that being said, who am I to judge how anyone else looks? Even at work, where I sometimes go sans makeup (but never deodorant) I don't care what other people look like. I'm there to do a job and go home. It's natural to silently judge someone who may not look their best while attempting to look their best, but to do so verbally is uncalled for.
Perhaps I'm comparing apples to oranges, but let's ease up on celebrity bashing:
For some reason Sarah Jessica Parker has a polarizing effect on people: you either love or hate her. The above referenced link showcases her wearing a black 'garment' under a 1980's Madonna-like top. Not something I'd personally wear, but kudos to her for having the body to pull it off. Is it tacky? Maybe. The last time I went 'out on the town' I wore jeans and a t-shirt; in fact, I've never even been invited to a galla.
The rest of the article shows Katy Perry in a not-so-flattering box-like jacket, Kim Kardashian in fur, Mickey Rourke in a messy pimp outfit, Rashida Jones wearing an oriental rug, Brad Goreski in orange pants, Cassie in a shirt that can only be supported with chest tape, Marc Jacobs in a dress and oversized loafers, and Julianne Moore wearing the leprechaun from Lucky Charms.
O.K., so I judged them too.
Anyone who says they don't pay attention to celebrity gossip is a liar. It reminds me of high school: everyone pays attention to the popular kids while pretending not to care. But in the real world these people are trying to earn a living. Maybe some of them want to be on a worst dressed list, but I suspect most are trying to make a fashion statement. There's a part of me that has to roll my eyes at such articles because really, who are any of us to judge?
