Sunsation at Copper Mountain

Mud season can be a total bummer if you've been spending your winter making sweet turns in knee deep powder. Copper Mountain does its best to relieve that pain a little. Every weekend in the month of April features a different live band that stirs up fun for free. Past years have seen the likes of Pepper, Los Lonely Boys, Lotus, Steel Pulse, and Michael Franti making appearances, and the clever minds at Copper no doubt have similar musical delicacies in store for this year. Things can get a little rowdy, so you may want to leave the tykes at home, but older kids might love experiencing good music with the 'rents, so take them along!

Boulder Tulip Fairy and Elf Parade

Note: Downtown Boulder has parking garages that are available for free parking on weekends

It's not quite Amsterdam, but with over 15,000 tulips bedded along its famous Pearl Street Mall, Boulder gives the Dutch a spring time nod in the most gorgeous (and, possibly, adorable) way possible. Tiny tots from all over dress as fairies and elves, walking the length of the mall with the Tulip Fairy "waking up" the beds of flowers to welcome spring. Face painting, prizes, and performances from local music and entertainment troupes round out the family-friendly day.

For the culinarily adventurous, check out the Green Chili Bowl Cook-off, where 15 local restaurants compete for the title of "Denver's Best Green Chili" (and this town is very, very serious about its green chili!), or visit one of the over 350 vendors for something else delicious to suit your palette.

Boulder Creek Festival
