Skinfood is a popular starting point for people interested in BB creams and other Korean cosmetics. BB creams claim to conceal imperfections, moisturize and treat your skin all in one step. Skinfood Mushroom BB cream claims whitening and anti-aging benefits in addition to its SPF 20 protection. Skinfood Mushroom in shade # 2 was the first BB cream I purchased out of the many different types available.
The first thing I noticed about the Skinfood Mushroom BB cream was the packaging. The product comes in an attractive tube dispenser with the product name and description in English. The ingredients are printed in Hangul, and so far I have not found an English translation.
The BB cream itself is a smooth, creamy formula with slight beige undertones. The scent is fresh and reminds me of some type of plant, but it's not at all heavy or floral. I have very sensitive, light olive skin so I was concerned that the color would be off or the fragrance would cause a rash. My fears were unfounded, however. Skinfood Mushroom BB cream is now a staple of my cool-weather makeup collection.
The mushroom BB cream goes on very light, absorbs into your skin and oxidizes into a more natural color within a few minutes. I wouldn't recommend this product for those with medium or dark skin tones as the darkest color matches my pale skin perfectly. The formula is very moisturizing, although I prefer to use a light moisturizer underneath for smoother application. If you have oily skin, definitely skip this step as the product provides almost no oil control and may be too moisturizing for your skin.
A pea-sized amount is plenty for my face, and proper blending is very important to achieve a natural look. Skinfood mushroom BB cream provides decent coverage and makes my skin look radiant, dewy and almost perfect aside from my dark circles. It absorbs well and covers minor blemishes and imperfections, but allows my dark circles to show through a little. The BB cream does not accentuate fines lines around the eyes if applied with a light hand. I like to layer it with Skinfood Salmon Dark Circle Concealer for maximum coverage. It lasts for around six hours before I need to reapply.
I've been using Skinfood Mushroom BB cream for several years now, and noticed an improvement in the tone and texture of my skin. This product never caused me to break out and I'm allergic to almost everything. At around $12 USD, I consider Skinfood Mushroom BB cream the holy grail for women with dry, sensitive or aging skin.
