From Strawberry Scented Hair to Pear Scented Armpits, How Much Scent is Too Much?
Scents are everywhere around us, how much is too much? Are manufacturers going overboard with all of the scented products on the market?
One question that I have is why can't more manufacturers make a line of scented products such as Suave Strawberry Shampoo. If I really like strawberries, I might also want Suave Strawberry deodorant and lotion! Right? Really I adore peach scented anything but now a days can rarely find the peach lotion that I love. You can find many combined products like peach and pomegranate and honeysuckle peach but hardly any just peach scents.
What do people with allergies do in a world full of strong scents? These people can break out in hives from being around perfume on others at work or get the sniffles, but they also can have much stronger life threatening reactions. Sure there are unscented products on the market but when I was searching for unscented baby products when my baby would break out, they were incredibly hard to find. Some people do not realize how strong the scent is until someone mentions it. By "some people", I am referring to guys of course. It seems guys don't have a nose for scents as they slather on cologne like it is going out of style! Yes if you ever read the instructions on a bottle of perfume or cologne, it may say to reapply during the day but trust me, don't. They want to sell more product and could care less about your social life! The scent does not wear off until you wash it off.
Are all of these scented products really necessary? Using them, we miss out on the scent of roses growing in the backyard or the smell of rain in the air. When my daughter was a baby, something my sister said still stays with me. Since my baby girl would break out with scented products, I changed to unscented everything. My sister said that my baby did not smell "like a baby"! How awful! A baby can only smell like a baby if they smell like Johnson's Baby Powder and Johnson's Baby Lotion? That is just plain wrong. There are natural scents all around us every day that these artificially scented products are preventing us from smelling! Manufacturers have taught us to only like their scents and to crave certain scents.
You can even make your own scented products in some places just like the famous actors and actresses are doing! Marketing their own brand of scent to the public. I don't know if I would be good at this. Combining scents seems extraordinarily difficult and I would end up with a peach scented perfume! Keeping it simple does the trick!
Now if you will excuse me, I think that I will go smell a real rose instead of my rose-scented candle!
